LGBTQ Mentor Program

The LGBTQ Mentor Program matches LGBTQ-identified current students to LGBTQ-identified alumni to create unique mentor opportunities.  The program lasts for one academic year and focuses on supporting LGBTQ students while they are at the University and also  on how students can join the workforce as openly LGBTQ people.  The program is a partnership between Common Ground, LGBTQ Spiders Alumni Group, and the Office of Alumni & Career Services.

Alumni Mentor Expectations:

  • Be a member of LGBTQ Spiders Alumni Group
  • Complete the Mentor Application
  • Participate in full group introductory call
  • Connect with mentee once a month
  • Review monthly mentor newsletter
  • Participate in full group evaluation call
  • Complete online evaluation

Student Mentee Expectations:

  • Identify as LGBTQ+
  • Complete the Mentee Application
  • Participate in full group introductory call
  • Connect with mentor once a month
  • Meet with Career Services representative to complete resume
  • Check in each semester with Common Ground representatives
  • Participate in full group evaluation call
  • Complete online evaluation

Apply for the Mentor Program

Student Mentee applications are due by Friday, April 15, 2016.

Alumni Mentor applications are due by Friday, July 29, 2016.
