Safe Zone Lunch Series

Each month the Office of Common Ground offers a Safe Zone lunch focused on a unique topic related to LGBTQ communities. These free lunches offer an opportunity for Safe Zone allies and the greater UR community to learn more about LGBTQ issues in a safe and learning focused enviornment.

Faculty/staff please register on UR Talent Web. Your user name is your netid, and the initial default password is Richmond1. When you log-on using the default password, you will be prompted to change your password. Once in UR Talent Web, type “Safe Zone Lunch” in the global search box in the upper right hand corner. Clicking on the course title will reveal dated sessions. Clicking on the word "Request" will enable you to enroll and you will receive a confirmation email.

Update on the Search for the Associate Director of Common Ground for LGBTQ Campus Life- Wednesday, February 1, 12-1pm, THC 329

The search process has been much longer than any of us anticipated, but our commitment to finding an excellent leader for LGBTQ Campus Life has not waned. We have learned a lot in the process, though, and we stand to learn more from a frank discussion with invested members of the community. Come join our discussion. Pizza provided but please bring your own drink.

The Current State of Activism in RVA- TBA, February

Join Bill Harrison and Rodney Lofton of Diversity Richmond as they present on current LGBTQ activism in RVA, as well as their activism during Black History Month. Our partners at Diversity Richmond always bring great information and lively discussion. As always, pizza is provided.

Intersecting Identities in the Workplace- TBA, March

Tonya Osmond and Anna Young of Career Services will present on the challenges that many people with intersecting marginalized identities face in the workforce. Examine LGBTQ identities as well as first-generation experiences as you enjoy discussion and free pizza!
