Programs & Initiatives
Common Ground promotes diversity and inclusion through a number of campus-wide programs and initiatives.
Diversity Roundtable
The Diversity Roundtable is comprised of student organizations with missions that address diversity and inclusion or who promote the full inclusion of underrepresented groups on campus. The goal of the Roundtable is to encourage collaboration among diverse student groups, sponsor programs related to diversity for the student body, and to help students make their own meaningful connections across differences. MLK Day
Common Ground coordinates the University's commemoration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The University commemorates the day with an altered class schedule that allows all members of the campus community to gather and reflect on the legacy of the great civil rights leader. The program is developed with the assistance of a campus-wide committee of students, staff, and faculty. View the video of the 2009 commemoration here. For more information, click here.
Wellness Class
In an effort to promote opportunities to learn about difference, and to facilitate important dialogues among students about diversity, the Common Ground staff offers a Wellness Class for students on this topic every spring. Enitled Diversity & Dialogue, students may register for it when signing up for spring classes.
