Common Ground offers a number of resources and services to members of the University community—to individuals or groups looking for direction or assistance on issues related to diversity and inclusion.

Consultation

The Office consults on issues of difference, diversity and inclusion related to classroom, workplace and community life at the University. Do you have an idea and need some help strategizing? Want help planning a workshop? Have questions about diversity issues? If so, contact us

Inclusive Community Fund

If you need funding for a project that will promote inclusive community on our campus, check out our funding program. Any member of the campus community is eligble to apply.

Bias Incidents

As part of the University's Bias Incident Protocol,  the director of Common Ground heads the University's Bias Response Team, which coordinates the University's response to bias incidents with emphases on investigating, responding to, and communicating about all aspects of incidents in a rapid and transparent manner.

Our monthly eNewsletter is designed to keep members of the campus community current on all things diversity at the University. Click here to see our recent editions.

Faculty Diversity

The Office provides resources for diversity advocates serving on faculty job searches. Diversity advocates should contact the Office to discuss their role or to access the many resources the Office maintains on diversity in faculty searches. The University is a member of the Consortium for Faculty Diversity, which works to enhance the diversity of faculty members and of applicants for faculty positions at liberal arts colleges.

Queer UR

Common Ground actively supports the University’s queer community. Queer UR is a web portal with connections to organizations and resources in the UR community working to create an optimal environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, and intersex people and their allies at the University of Richmond.
